OUR WORK

Take a look at just some of our completed projects.

1970 Ferrari Dino

This dream car of mine sold as I was trailering back to the owner, because it is just a fabulous piece. The owner, who is a Ferrari mechanic, has driven and even raced this super car for many years and decided to sell it to retire. I'm not sure if he or I was sadder to see it go, but it was a real pleasure to work on. And, it was a true pleasure working with the owner.

1964 Bentley S3

At the La Jolla Concours D'Elegance, I spotted this beautiful Bentley that we worked on very recently for a customer. It was purchased from the original owner in La Jolla and now remains in La Jolla. I arrived as it was getting judged.

1956 Ford Thunderbird

Well, two down and one to go on the flock of '56 T-Birds. This one has taken the most time and effort. Check out the entire process, if you dare!

2010 Chevrolet Tahoe

We are so fortunate to work with wonderful people and so many nice vehicles. One of the latest projects was brought in by a previous customer who lives in Sun City. He was so happy with the job that we did on his Chrysler, he brought his newly purchased Tahoe to us, because he just was not feeling the look. Even though he knew what to expect, he was still ecstatic with the result.

1926/7 Rolls Royce 20 Horse Park Ward

This vehicle came to us in pieces quite some time ago. It claims to be a Rolls built for the person who opened the first Rolls Royce dealership in the U.S. An aluminum skinned wood body presented many challenges and was finished just days ago. Please take a look at this extensive build.

$2600

2007 Shelby Super Snake

Trailered to us almost a year ago from Washington, this 800+hp Snake had never won a car show. So what is a guy to do? Ship it to Custom Auto Body, of course. We addressed every inch of this car, cosmetically, and we think he will win his share of shows now.  We look forward to hearing from this proud Snake owner.

1966 Shelby GT350

Thanks to JBA Speed Shop, we had the honor to do a light restoration on one the finest Shelbys that we have ever seen. There were several small issues that we addressed to make the car completely correct. The most obvious issue, is the fact that this rare Shelby came without the notable stripes. Today we delivered it and in the end, we have another extremely happy customer and owner of a very expensive ride!

2015 Range Rover 'L'

Hot out of the paint booth, this brand new ride only has 49 miles on it. We are not always wild about a matt finish, but we love this one, now. The gloss black roof, wheels and trim help to accent it perfectly.

1937 Rolls Royce Phantom

A little damage repaired on this family owned vehicle from the middle east.

Ford Model T

Another Model T Hot Rod rolls out of Custom Auto Body. This one is a little different, as it is called a "Center Door" for obvious reasons. It also gets the oval rear window treatment. And the best part is, as Henry Ford said, "Any customer can have a car painted any colour that he wants, so long as it is black".

2013 Ford Mustang Roush RS3

Besides the Saleen, the Super Snake and the DG, we have this clean Roush that had an incident. No problem, because with some parts, paint and expert technicians, this ride is back on the road today.

Custom Yamaha Road Star

This tank was brought to us by North County's House Of Motorcycles. We were to match it to the fender and a couple of photos. And, here are the results..

1985 Cadillac Eldorado Biaritz

Here is a near vintage Caddy that was just asking to be restored. It's alligator skin finish was not making it anymore, so we stripped everything and made it like the factory finish again. Enjoy the process!

1984 Porsche 911 Cabriolet

It is always a pleasure to work on a Porsche, especially one that is still owned by the original owner. Besides the poorly repaired left rear corner of the vehicle (by a high end shop in San Diego) it has been untouched for 30 years. By the time the owner picked it up from us, the paint and wheels were better than new and he was a proud owner again!

1968 Ford Mustang Fastback

What started out as an engine bay refinish, thanks to the crew at JBA Speed Shop, continued as a repair and complete exterior repaint. It was completed just in time for the largest Mustangs By The Bay show ever and won a coveted Sponsor's Award. Congratulations to one of our great customers and thanks again to JBA!

1999 Harley Davidson

Fat Boy

Guys always want a few more inches in length and in height for their bike's rear fender!! So we just stretched it for him.  The key is to do it with it looking perfectly natural.

1957 Thunderbird

This blue bird found its way to us randomly . . . and it is so happy it did. After a thorough paint restoration, we gave the couple that owns it a renewed love of the car, as well as for each other. We even delivered it back to their home in L.A. Now, this is one happy family!

2014 Mustang

Sometimes, just a couple of parts and a little paint can completely change the look of a vehicle. In this case, we converted a Plain Jane into a Mustang Sally!

1940 Cadillac Series 90 7-Passenger Limousine

A small repair on a large vehicle is no problem, especially when it is a rare and absolutely beautiful limo. It was the last year of the V16 for Cadillac, which had the best performance of any production car in the world.

1987 BMW 325ic

We had the opportunity to take this nice E30 and turn it into a real stunner. Besides a high quality paint job, using the same German material

as it came with originally, we also relaced some parts with new OEM and recycled ones. It was a success!

1966 Sunbeam Tiger

Some cars are just fun to drive and others are fun to look at. This little guy is both . . . and more. Which is why it came to us. With a lot of horse power packed under the hood, it is easy for it to get away from you. But, the owner used this opportunity to freshen up the whole vehicle. Check it out!

BMW Race Bike

If you ask any car or bike customizer what they enjoy the most, some will say the concept, some will say the final drawings, some like the process and others will say the final product.  I honestly enjoy the entire process. See what you think.

1956 Ford Park Lane

We just completed some work on an award winning station wagon. One of the most difficult items to get right are louvers. The hood had paint cracking and peeling around them, so we were the lucky shop to fix them. Check out the tedious process.

2003 BMW Z4

Bringing a little sunshine, here, for the weekend, this perfect Z4 was missing one thing: the owner's lost excitement. A little "Primrose" is all it took to bring that excitement back. With a lifetime warrantied German paint job on the car and wheels, with new tires, this customer is ready to enjoy his roadster for another 10 exciting years!

1956 Austin Healey 100/6

A broken wing? No issues for Custom Auto Body, as we love lil British Convetibles. All we had to do was pop the bonnet and remove the wing and door. After some panel beating and a little spray, she is as good as new, old chaps.

2016 Chevrolet Corvette

Sometimes, subtle can be the key especially on a brand new vehicle. This sweet ride garnishes a few small body mods. It is just enough to give it a slightly lower stance and girth, without changing the suspension or tires. Can you "catch" the drift of this new fish?

2011 Audi S5

It was a true pleasure working a real car guy and a delight to have such a well cared canvas to start with. Of course, we had to tear apart that canvas, a little, to achieve the final result. But, I think it was well worth it. Thanks again for the opportunity!

2011 Ducati Diavel

Friday, a rider comes in from the dealer with his brand new bike and asks us to custom paint it. I give him back the keys and tell him to ride it over the weekend and if he feels the same on Monday, he can leave it with us. He came back Monday morning and he has been a great customer ever since. This is one he had on his bucket list.

1980 Porsche 911

Thanks to Black Forest Automotive for another fine referral. This limited edition Porsche Weissach had to go back to the exact details of the original. But, that's no problem for us. In fact, even Ar-Jays Upholstery gave us an assist with this one.

1926 Packard Roadster

After several years of restoration, our paint job finally gets exposed. And in six months it will be competing at the 2017 La Jolla Concours d'Elegance in their mark of the year . . . Packard, of course. Good luck, Doc!

E-Z-Go Cart

On a sunny San Diego day, we ask this question: "Why have vanilla, when Custom Auto Body can paint you a dreamsicle?" This is one of our great customers that had us custom paint his E-Z-Go cart. We always oblige with excitement!

2011 Jeep Wrangler

This customer came in knowing exactly how she wanted her brand new wheels custom painted. Our expert paint team masked them up and shot them with a fresh coat of paint. We are happy to say when she came to pick up her vehicle she was more than thrilled!

2016 Tesla Model S P90

We love our repeat customers that buy another new vehicle and bring it directly to us. No, it isn't because they are bad drivers. It is because the factory doesn't provide them with the options that we can provide. Who knows, once Elon sees our version, they may offer these options.

1969 Chevrolet Camaro

On this Camaro the customer swapped out his old motor for an LS to have more reliable horse-power. With a new engine he wanted a new paint job. We think it turned out great!

1977 Jeep

This is a custom build that we think came out pretty cool! We designed the paint color and even hand painted the wheel caps. A complete restoration.

1947 Triumph Roadster

This 1947 Triumph 1800 Roadster made its debut at the Greystone Mansion Concours d'Elegance and this is how the process of the body and paint work progressed.

1971 BMW 2002tii

After stripping the paint we then stripped all of the filler. The metal was in good shape, except for some surface rust. We prepped, painted and polished it to the finish it deserved. So here you go Marco, the owner of Marco Polo Independent BMW & MINI Service in La Jolla. Also, thank you for your referrals!

1969 Pontiac GTO

We are so thankful to have great customers and especially those that serve our country and defend our freedom. This car was given to our customer by his Godmother, who drove it regularly for its entire life . . . until now. She has even seen it now and it brought tears to her eyes.
